The Neversheds are a relatively new band with a not so ordinary background and material. Their debut album, Better Late Than Never, released in November 2023, is a very energetic, a little old school, like if you mixed The Kinks and The Damned together.

The bands story in Dan’s words:
Back in January 2022, I sent a recording of my dad and I playing a song which he wrote 40 years ago to a good friend of mine called Dominic Masters who plays in a band called The Others. He then unexpectedly offered us the support slot at his band’s 20th anniversary gig which I immediately accepted. Only problem was that we didn’t have a band… Matt is a family friend of ours who jumped in to help us for the gig.
Julian worked at the same school as my dad Steve. They didn’t know each other but Steve saw Julian walking down the corridor with a guitar on his back and struck up a conversation. Julian met us for a jam and joined shortly after.
We played the support slot at The Grace and since then have kept on rolling. We released our first album earlier this month.
Half the songs on the album are written by Steve and the other by Julian.
We like to think of ourselves as more than just a band people go out to see, we are a community in which like minded fans of all ages and backgrounds meet up before the gig and go out afterwards and would describe ourselves as family friendly punk.
The album name Better Late Than Never is appropriate because the album took 40 years to be released.
On the track Machines, The Electric Sheep are my sister Emma, my nephew Hayden and my niece Courtney. They would be chuffed if their names are in the article!
The track 3 Gorgons features special guests Jonny, Emma and Lalah and the track Outro features our ex drummer Amit and a special guest James.
It would be nice to give a shout out to the fans that contributed to the album and support us!
Their overall sound is very catchy, you can’t help but start nodding your head to each and every one of the tracks, they all capture that classic rock sound since they were most likely written around the time classic rock was in its prime and everyone wanted to hear more and more. It is a great debut album that preserves songs written decades ago.
The band also just got nominated for Best Band on Cragsradio where you can vote for them to win: https://cragsradio.co.uk/unsigned-music-awards/?fbclid=IwAR19C4W5QpEi73rMtxQU4xJRU46hRZD4hOf0cszJMq61pPJAG_gW0S9dpjA
It is definitely not my first or last article where I say this but it is actually quite hard to find a song I don’t entirely enjoy. If only this album was released a few decades earlier!
Their next gig is on the 24th of February at the Macbeth in Hoxton, catch them if you’re around!
